Pushing Daisies - My Famous Friends

Ok, so I keep forgetting to brag about my famous friends. First of all, if you haven't seen ABC's "Pushing Daisies" yet, you have to! It's awesome! And, Lee Pace (the guy who plays Ned, the lead role) is my friend from high school! Yes, I'm serious! We were in some plays together. He is doing such an awesome job. It's so weird for me to see him all grown up!

Here's a picture from our high school production of "South Pacific." It's not the best picture, I know, but he is the first guy in a sailor hat from the left (I'm the one on the front row in the khaki "uniform" in between the guy in the camo and the girl in the redish shirt).

Also, my really good friend Matt Bomer was on this summer's show "Traveler" (also ABC - I guess they like guys from Houston). He played Jay Berchel, the lawyer.

I was really good friends with him. We were Standleaders together and in choir and plays together. Over the summer Grant LOVED to tell everyone at work that my "old boyfriend" was on t.v. and that I record his show every week so I can watch him over and over every night before I go to bed so I can dream of him. His only reasoning for calling him my boyfriend was that I went to football banquet with him and kissed him in a play. Still, this is enough for Grant to run with when he wants to tell a good story! His colleagues, of course, loved to egg it on and made up lists of qualities that Grant had that were better than Matt's to "convince me that Id picked the right guy." MEN! They obviously had too much time on their hands at work! Here's some pictures of Matt and me. The first one if us when we went to football banquet and the second one is at a pep rally our senior year when we were Standleaders. He's supposed to be Michael Jackson (the skit was to Thriller) and I was the wicked witch from some rival high school (remember, it doesn't have to make a lot of sense to be a legit pep rally skit!).

Matt's also in the "South Pacific" picture from above. 100 points to anyone who can tell which one he is.

Lastly, Lynn Collins (she was Mark Ruffolo's fiancee in "13 Going on Thirty," Keanu Reeve's secretary in "The Lake House," and Ophelia in "The Merchent of Venice" with Al Pacino and Jeremy Irons) also went to my high school. We were in a summer school class together and also in a play together. This picture is of her with Keanu Reeves. They dated for a few months in 2005.

So, anyway, those are my famous friends! Does that make me famous by association? :)

  1. Wow what was in the water at your high school? Must've had a really great drama program. So where is your big break Cass?! ;) Sad to say, I have no clue what these shows are that your friends are in. I did recognize a movie or two with the girl in them. Isn't that Daisy show a new one this season? I am lame. Hey, I do know who Keanu is though. hahaha

  3. Neal and I love Pushing Daisies, but I can't for the life of me remember Lee from school, but I have a terrible memory! It was fun seeing old pictures. I went to Freshman year Homecoming with Matt, but liked Bradley, but he went with Rachelle...HS was so complicated and twisted! I also saw Matt in the first episode of "Chuck", which is another great show if you haven't seen it. Matt might be back on some flashbacks, but his charater was killed on the first episode.

I'm glad you are back to blogging!

  8. I'm about to graduate from Klein and I adore Matt. It's on my bucketlist to meet him and tell him I'm from the same small town as him!
